This exciting research will test the theory that the higher plasticity of the hippocampus may make hippocampal neurons more vulnerable to damage from the toxic protein clumps characteristic of Alzheimer’s disease.
In addition the Wiltgen Lab has also been awarded a three year research grant from the White hall Foundation is for their work on the Contributions of Calcium-Permeable AMPA Receptors to Synaptic Plasticity.
